We’re for the girls who refuse to be counted out.
We empower young mothers to rise, rebuild, and create brighter futures for themselves and their families.

An EMBER can be protected and fanned into a bright flame, able to change the space it exists in.
DID YOU KNOW?
Only about 50% of teen mothers earn their high school diploma by the age of 22?
Only 2% of these young women earn a college degree by the time they turn 30.
At age 40, women who have had their first child before age 20 earn 30% less than a woman who waited until after 25 to begin having children.
Susan Sutton, founder of The EMBER Project,
knows firsthand what it feels like to be counted out. She became pregnant between 9th and 10th grade—smart, ambitious, and determined—but quickly dismissed by teachers and peers who believed she had ruined her life. Despite the whispers, Susan graduated with straight A’s, became the first in her family to attend college, and worked tirelessly to create a better future for her daughter. It wasn’t until her 40s that she began to see her own worth, and everything changed. Today, Susan is more successful than she ever imagined, and The EMBER Project exists to help young mothers ignite that same belief in themselves and transform their futures.
